Get Hooked ~ Crochet by Erin

Its been awhile since I have worked on my lily pond blanket. With the new Crochet along by Jane Crawford posted yesterday ( and I so want to make it!!) I thought I should finish last years blanket before I start a new one. If I put my mind to it, I can finish the lily pond this month! I have 3 blocks to make and then I have to crochet every piece together. This wonderful mess above is what I accomplished last night. I crocheted blocks 3 and 4  and 6 and 3. which are the side panels.   More later. 

February was a colorful month. On Valentines day the high was 10 degrees. Look at that LAVENDER square ( 1st in row.) It was 64 on the first of FEBRUARY!  This was a cold week. Introducing Jade and Peacock. (The 2 end squares.) Notice in the pic above( 3rd from left).... a LAVENDER square!! Another wonderful 60 degree day in FEBRUARY in RHODE ISLAND!! a day after we had a light snow flurry.  So the warmest for the month was 64 and the coldest was 10. 91 and above - Cream 81 - 90            Perfect Pink 71 - 80            Rouge 61 -70             Lavender  51 - 60            Orchid 41 - 50            Bright Orchid 31 - 40            Turquoise  21 - 30            Delft Blue 11 - 20         ...

Have you heard about this?  " The idea is to crochet a row a day for an entire year. The color you use is determined by the temperature each day."        -Repeat Crafter Me. ( said it best)   I first heard about a Temperature Scarf a few years ago. I started one but never got past the first month. This year I plan to make a blanket. I like projects I can piece together. My blanket will be 2 round granny squares using a J size hook. This Corner 2 Corner blanket is coming out well. I will need more skeins to make it a decent size blanket of course. This is almost 1 skein of yarn. I plan to continue to increase until all of the yarn is used. I will need one for the decrease and maybe one to make it a rectangle from a square, if I decide to go that route. This has been a great stash buster. I've had this skein ( Red Heart : Bikini ) for over a year. I am not a fan of the color ( Christmas present ) so I haven't had the desire to make anything with it. I have a few ideas for other C2C blankets so stay tuned :)

First I want to apologize for my yucky out side table. My porch has the best light. A few weeks ago I started my Boston Bruin Blanket. I had trouble deciding on either to make traditional granny squares or solid.   With help of a facebook group I love , I will be making the blanket with solid squares. They will use up a but more yarn but the blanket will be warmer. Here is my progress so far.... These are squares for the top of the blanket. I ran out of yellow so I started making black squares. This is the  chart  I am using .. I am using smaller squares because I don't need a big blanket. I plan to make numbers ( by  Moogly ) for my favorite team members. I think I can fill up all the big squares around the B.
