Get Hooked ~ Crochet by Erin

I am getting closer and closer to finishing this monster . Its been in the high 50s this week so I have been able to use the big table on the porch to layout a few blocks and crochet them together. I am so loving this section! More later,

Yesterday was my birthday. 36! (f*%#) ! I had a good day. I made my grandmother's stuffed green peppers ( for myself - Jon doesn't like peppers) . So yummy! My MIL bought me a cake .... she couldn't remember if I was 36 or not so she grabbed and 3 and 0..lol  I'll take 30 :)  On to Lily...  I crocheted blocks 3 and 4 together a bit of a close up. Blocks 2 and 5 Block 5 in 3 stages :)  This is one version of block 7. ( before blocking)  This is the other version I am using.  This was my last update last year. I have almost all the blocks made. I need to finish 5 and 7 and then 8. I want to finish this before the end of the month. I started on May 7 2015.  I really want to make the  Frida's Flowers Blanket but I will only be making one block from each update until I am sure I am happy with my color choice. Its been awhile since I have worked on my lily pond blanket. With the new Crochet along by Jane Crawford posted yesterday ( and I so want to make it!!) I thought I should finish last years blanket before I start a new one. If I put my mind to it, I can finish the lily pond this month! I have 3 blocks to make and then I have to crochet every piece together. This wonderful mess above is what I accomplished last night. I crocheted blocks 3 and 4  and 6 and 3. which are the side panels.   More later. 

Finally I can get back to this project. I love seeing everyone's blocks as they are made and I was sad not to be sharing my progress as well. I ran out of Paddy Green in June and I haven't been able to get to the store to buy more. So I looked for a skein on etsy. And I found a seller selling it. I was able to finish block 1 this past weekend. blocks 1 and 4. both needing another green row. Finished block 1. Now the color in need is Peacock. I was able to finish one panel of block 4. Until I receive more from another etsy seller I have moved on to block 7 .. Medium Flower.    I don't need any peacock for this block. I am trying out a few color combinations.  The left flower is Orchid, Dark Orchid , and Boysenberry. The right flower is Dark Orchid, Boysenberry and Orchid. Looking at them in natural light , I like them both. I want to make 8 of these so maybe I will bake 4 each.  Here is the link to the other update  ....

I am so glad I found this CAL. I like piecing things together, ie blankets. I enjoy sewing and watching the blanket come together. When I made the Mario blanket last year I was so excited when I sewed the the top half of Mario because I could see his face ! It was the first time I put something that big together. I liked it so much I started a Boston Bruins blanket in March. I am all done with the squares I just need to sew them. I am in no rush though. Now on to the Lily Pond Afghan. I started with blocks 2 and 3. I needed to buy more yarn to make block 1. And now block 4. Block 2 Flowers for block 3 Block 3 all done. I'm not using StyleCraft yarn. I wanted to use my stash. And my stash is mostly Red Heart.  Colors I am using are,  Peacock in place of Teal Paddy Green in place of Olive Spring green in place of Fern Aruba Sea in place of Mint Turquoise in place of Aqua White in place of Cream Lemon on place of Daffodil Da...

Only a few week to go and only a few projects to make!! I made more squares for the Bruins Blanket      All yellow are done and just a few 6 inch squares are left that make the B ( top pic)  My Ladybug flag is finished. I love how it turned out! I have to make another ladybug body to cover the sewing on the other side.  And while I have your attention.... Is anyone else making the  Lily Pond Blanket  ?  Block 2 Block 3.. so far.  I need to buy more skeins to complete block 1.
